The Wilmington-Clinton County Chamber of Commerce and the Clinton County Port Authority are launching a new three-part workshop series aimed at helping local small business owners and entrepreneurs strengthen their financial position and improve access to funding. The first session, titled “Become Bankable: How to Position Your Business for Funding Success,” will be held on Thursday, July 10, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Southridge Brewing, 1030 S. South St., Wilmington.

This interactive workshop, presented in partnership with the Ohio Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Miami University Regionals and First Financial Bank, will provide attendees with a deeper understanding of what it means to be “bankable.” Participants will explore how banks evaluate loan applications and gain valuable insights into the five key factors—known as the 5 C’s of Credit—that financial institutions use when making lending decisions.

Through a real-world case study, attendees will learn how to build trust with lenders, avoid common financial missteps, and create a strategic plan for growth and emergencies. The workshop also aims to help business owners improve their creditworthiness and become more loan-ready, whether they are expanding their operations or just getting started.

In addition to the hands-on learning component, the session will offer opportunities to network with local bankers, advisors, and fellow entrepreneurs. By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with a clear framework for financial planning and a stronger understanding of how to proactively position their business for future opportunities.

This workshop is designed for small business owners and entrepreneurs who are looking to grow their businesses, explore funding options, or better understand how to build productive banking relationships.

“Our goal is to help local businesses thrive by giving them the tools they need to succeed when funding opportunities arise,” said Dessie Rogers, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce. “We’re excited to partner with the Port Authority, Ohio SBDC, and First Financial Bank to share insights that can make a real difference for business owners at every stage.”

The July 10th session is the first in a three-part series, with the second and third sessions taking place on August 11th and September 17th. The event is free to attend, but registration is required by Thursday, July 3rd.  Light breakfast, sponsored by First Financial Bank, will be provided.
